Simon Baeckens

Principal investigator

I completed my PhD in Biology in 2017 at the Functional Morphology Lab at the University of Antwerp (Belgium), working with Prof. Van Damme. After that, I went on to do postdoc research at Harvard University (Losos Lab, USA), Macquarie University (Whiting & Shine Lab, Australia), and Ghent University (Shawkey Lab, Belgium). Since September 2025, I've been an assistent professor at the Earth and Life Institute (ELI) at UCLouvain (Belgium),  where I lead the laboratory for Animal Evolutionary Ecology.
